hi

i work in belfast and need advice

i wonder if anyone has any advice. i am currently living in hospital accommodation as i only have a part time job and cannot afford to move out. There are 12 of us living in and last week we were called to a meeting to be informed that the planning committe of the Trust havedecided it is "no longer financially viable" to keep all of the accommodation for staff - 3 sites and we have 3 months notice.

Now - on the main site, there is FREE accommodation for medical students and Foundation Yr 1 doctors - yes free

i am due to start a new job on that site in 4 weeks time, but they will not offer me any accommodation - yes i am not a doctor.

we have been given no alternative accommodation - all they said was we can get you the contact numbers for the housing association, no chance you'd wait 4 years even if you were going to be homeless in 2 weeks, we know many other hospital staff who have had dealing with the associations here.

so where do we stand? some of the other residents are immigrant workers - on low pay, domestic and support staff

and if the Trust is in such a financial mess - why is there millions of pounds of building work going on on all 3 sites - and the builders were working all day on a bank holiday?????

we are all very distressed and upset, the only accommodation within many budgets is in the student areas where there are riots and trouble  certainly during the marching season and st pats day, so i'm sorry but its not an option.
