Can I retract my notice

Posted about 1 year ago I have just handed in my notice, but after talking to some colleagues, I wonder if I have been too hasty. Can I take my notice back, will my employer be able to refuse to give it back to me. I am just so stressed at the moment I can't think properly. |

| Posted about 1 year ago You need to sit down with your line manager and explain what has been going on. If you both feel that there is something that needs to be done to help you then this can be implemented. You are obliged to give at least 4 weeks notice - depending on your grade but it should be okay and I cannot see why your line manager wouldn't want to keep you! After all it would mean them being short staffed and would be a nightmare for both of you to get another staff nurse or for you to get another job with the state of the NHS. Good Luck. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I agree with the last post. If you think you have made a mistake then talk to your manager asap. I gave notice to my manager and two weeks later I changed my mind, I went to see him face to face, explained my situation and asked nicely if it could be retracted, everything was sorted there and then as if it never happened. My manager made it his mission in the following weeks to address the problems I had as Im sure he saw it as a reflection on his management skills, approachability. I do not think you will have a problem with this. |
