hi everyone. am stuck in a rut at the moment have graduated 4years ago with a psychology degree and no where close to getting a job in the field after numerous interviews and since it has been so long since i have graduated i am unsure now if i should continue trying as out of the loop if you get my meaning. i have been a hcsw for a yr working for the sexual health nurse and love every minute of it but i do know that i want to progress in the future. my first thought was mental health nurse training but unfortunately cannot do it through work and unable to support myself with the bursery. but i have also been thinking about general nursing as i have worked in sexual health for 3.5yrs and am really interested in the subject so am stuck really. i have also been offered the chance to train as an AP at work which means more clinical experience and staying in the job/environment i love. but again i am unsure especially as i havent seen many promotional opportunities in the future if i were to do this.

could anyone possibly give me some advise please i really dont know what is best?

thanks

Personally I believe that if you are in a job that you love then stay in it unless you have a real burning desire to go and train as something else.  Enjoyting your work and job satisfaction , for me anyway, are extremely important.  I will finish my nursing course next year but by the looks of things there are no jobs available, so you would be crazy to give up what you have got.  That's my view - what does anyone else think?

hi thank you so much for your reply. i know what you mean regarding staying in a job i enjoy but i am very career driven and i know i want to get further in the future and possibly scared that the longer i leave it the worse it will be. im not going to make a hasty decision at the moment as havent completely made my mind up but i love the idea of the possibilities especially when i want to relocate in the next 5-10years. thats a shame there is no jobs but i think that is the case for any job now which is depressing. again i want to thank you for your comment and should appreciate what i have got whilst i have got it. shall wait and see what it brings.
