Hi all, im wondering if anyone out there can help me!! Im about to qualify as an adult nurse. Ive always had a passion for mental health nursing, infact mental health nursing was my first choice at my university but i didnt get an interview. Im looking forward to qualifying as an adult Nurse and looking forward to finding work although in the future i would like to take extra training to become dual trained. I was wondering if anyone had done anything similar. Ive searched and searched the net and cant find any information. All i can find is an university near London offering an 18 month course, split between placement and uni full time. Im in the Doncaster area so this isnt really an option for me. Any help or info at all would be gratefully recieved. Many thanks Alex

Hi, I have just qualified as a MH nurse. I think you should contact the universities in your area as we had a general trained nurse join our cohort for about 18 months to complete the modules needed to be duel qualified. The uni sort of concocted a programme for her where she joined us at the start of year 2 (module 4), and then finished just before we started module 8. So it's worth ringing around even if they don't offer conversion courses on the uni website. Good luck x

Thank you for your help, im going to do just that.  A bit of extra time at uni to do what i really want to do will be worth it.
