Posted about 1 year ago Hey all i am starting my nursing degree in march 2011, A friend of mine, who is in the same intake, has put herself on the waiting list for september 2010. But i haven't done this, because i've just finished the year from hell on an access to nursing course and i feel like i need a break over christmas! I was told by the uni that the march intake is better because the class size is smaller. Has anyone on here started in a march intake? What are the pro's and con's, and should i consider putting myself on the list for september? I have a learning disability, so i believe i may benefit from a smaller class size, who knows! Thanks for reading, Lulu |

| Posted about 1 year ago hi lulujeanne im a 1st year adult nursing degree student and started march just gone, im almost 2 months in now and its great fun! there is 120 of us altogether but we are split into smaller groups of about 20 for our tutorial lectures and skills days, it really helps to have the smaller classes as its easier to ask questions and the tutor gets to know you easier, i also feel more comfortable in a class of 120 than 300 or so... that is how many started in sep apparently not sure if it differs depending on where you study thats ow it is at uni of glam wales, i was offered a place last sep but wanted to have a break over xmas as i to finished my access that year i saved up more cash 2 by workin and really enjoyed xmas but it depends if you wanna wait 6mnths its up 2 you lol, your going to love it though hun i was in ur position this time last year and the time has flown by! i start my first placement next week eek really nervous now but v excited, so far weve been learning injections, vital obs, infection control, manual handling etc and get to use those skills on the ward next week, there hasnt been too much work to domostly reading and writing up on anatomy and physiology and clinical skills and we have had a diagnostic essay to do already but it is just a practice to see what level we work at, sorry i have gone on a bit but thought it might be helpful (i wanted to know all i could before i started lol) feel free to ask any questions if you want hun good luck with ur studies u aint got long left to wait suzie xx |

| Posted about 1 year ago Thank you Scooby for your reply, its really helped me to gain an insight into what the first part of my course will be like! It sounds awesome! I can't wait to get stuck into the nitty gritty stuff! i'm so glad i'm going in March. I only have 30 people in my entire class! (there's 60 in september!) So i'll be able to get to know my tutors and get the support i need. The thing that swinged it for me is that fact i'm absolutely knackered after this year of hell on the access course! I want a break over xmas! Also i have dyspraxia and i feel i will really benefit from the one to one support. If you don't mind, i'll add you as a friend and keep in touch :-) x |

| Posted about 1 year ago Hi guys, I was a March intake student in March 2007 and thus graduated in March this year. I would probably guess that it doesn't make a whole lot of difference which cohort you are in, only that in March intakes you have your long summer break in the middle of your year rather than at the end like the September intakes do. If it means smaller class sizes though then it is definitely worth it! We had a cohort of 45 students and it was fantastic, we all got really close during the 3 years and we became great friends with most of the tutors too! Well done to you all on getting accepted - it's a long and hard role, but worth it for the first time you put on your blue uniform!! :D Good luck Paul x |
