Posted about 1 year ago Hello there Im thinking of studying Nursing however I have a visable tattoo on my forearm while not insulting in it's image it is a Tattoo non the less. (one of a size that I could not cover with a small plaster). I of course realise that Tattoo's should be covered and my initial thought was to think "Ill wear long sleeved shirts" however im now confused by various comments that you cannot wear long sleeved shirts as a practicing nurse.
Is this the case, and where would i stand? any and all help is appriciated. |

Short sleeves are for infection control purposes. But a couple of guys on my course have tattoos on both forearms and had no trouble at all, I think its more frowned upon than an actual rule. Nobody really cares as long as they aren't insulting - I would phone up and check with your local trust to find out what their tattoo policy is because you will be going to be working with them on placements when you begin training. Good luck |
