Posted about 1 year ago Hi there people, I have always had the desire to become a nurse but have been hindered by my hepatitis status. I have chronic hepatitis b and would like advice on what is my best course of action. Would I be discriminated against because of my status, or would I be able to study and later practice without discrimination and if so what would I do if this was the case? Please don't be mean!! |

| Posted about 1 year ago hey there, im really not sure what the procedure is if you suffer with an chronic illness like hep b, it would depend on your individual circumstances id imagine ie how and when you contratcted and what your symptoms are and how much it affects you etc but they would have to take into consideration patient safety etc (no offence) as you would be working closely with patients, wounds, needles and bodily fluids etc, personally i think you should speak to a uni tutor and ask coz like i said im really not sure im purely guessing lol well any advice helps hey, i think you should go for it anyways if its what you want and at least then you can say you tried!! all the best xx suzie |

| Posted about 1 year ago Suzie says they must consider patient safety. However your hep B status should not affect your being able to get a job as a nurse. After all., how many procedures or situations are you aware of that nurses and patients are required to share blood? |

| Posted 5 days ago Hepatitis B is contagious only by blood and this should not be a barrier for your nurse career. Being a nurse does not mean you have to be perfectly healthy all the time, nurses are human too and can get a flu, pneumonia, have a yeast-problems.com/">Threelac Probiotic treatment or even hepatitis. If I work as a nurse and got hepatitis from a patient, this means they will fire me? |
