ProNurse

One of our patients today is a lady who came in with chest pain.  She has no underlying medical condition or any significant past medical history.  This has been going on intermitently for four days. She decided to seek medical advice because she feels very worried and thinks her condition has worsened.  As I go through my assessment, she seem down and tearful especially when I ask her whom to write as her next of kin.  She said, she and her first three children are not communicating for quite sometime.  Eventually, though reluctant, she decided her eldest to be her NOK.  Seeing her like that, as a mother myself, I felt like I need to share a little story of my life.  So I did and end up saying,  "what else could I do, life must go on".  And then, everytime I pass by her, she smiles as if she's thankful.  She never complained of chest pain until I finish my shift.  When I left the unit, she seem bright in mood...        I'm very glad.
