Hi there guys,

Would really appriciate some of youu roppinions. I have applied to go to uni in september and have made an application to do psychology & counselling and mental health nursing but i'm really not sure which route to follow if i get accepted for both. i love working with people and currently work in palliative care as a support worker. I have always be interested in human behaviou and respose and unbringing and childhood experiances being key to adult perception and behaviour.  i love the idea of nursing and the variety and do enjoy the clincal side of things too, but with psychology i have always been really interested and know i wouls gain moreindepth knowledge in to behaviour. the only problem is that after i complete that i'd have to go on to postgraduate studies to get a job in that field, unlike nursing . really stuck really wouold appriciate  your thoughts....times ticking too i'm gonna be 30 this year Eeek!!!

only you can choose.

I chose the mental health nursing route when I was 21. Looking back, after 61/2 years qualified I know I wouldn't choose it again. I feel tied to it, and I certainly would never have gone straight into forensic nursing.

I want to go back to college now, but unfortunately can't afford it. I feel annoyed with myself that I didn't think ahead, so to avoid that, think really hard where you want your career to go and what you want from it.

Good luck!

Thanks Rhian.,

Think i'm gonna go via open university and do psychology, that way  i'll be able ot spend more time with my little boy who's only 2, whereas with the nursing, i'll not be able to see him what with placements and study. Alsot i can take my time nott get too bogged down with uni fees . i think if i do decide to choose nursing at a later date, the study i do thoigh OU will help. think i need to think about my family for the minute rather than panic buying
