Hi

I hope you don't mind me posting here.

I really want to be a midwife and after a lot of thinking I applied for a local access course to start the process.  I have an interview (yay)

I was just wondering if anyone went down the access course route and had the interview that would be able to offer me some advice?  There are limited spaces and I need to make a good and lasting impression.  Also what do i expect?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

hellooo there!!

do you mean an access course at college to gain A level equivalants? because i did one at my college in order to apply for nursing at uni, if this is the course you have an interview for then my interview was very straight forward, they wanted to know what i aim to do in the future, why i want to do nursing, any relevant experience, my opinion on commitment and timekeeping thats it really my uni interview was the same but they also asked about my knowledge on the profesion and the uni course and some basic healthcare questions.

of course every college will be different but just be yourself n relax and good luck, hope this helped!

p.s Expect alot of reading, writing and group activities and be sure to reference your work for extra brownie points, but dont worry aslong as your commited and willing youll get plenty of support, ha im not the brightest crayon in the box but i did summin right cause i got in,yey.

You can always do an access couse via distance learning, you do have to be self motivated though. x

I did the access course whilst working full time it was hard but I managed it. I always did a late on a monday and had my days of tues and thurs which enabled me to complete the course within a year. I think its an excellent starting point and if like me you have not studied for a while its great. My interview was very informal and I had to write 500 words as to why I wanted to do the course.  We had great fun espesially in science I can remember going to the local pond - pond dipping to see what we could find. Good luck
