I dont think i agree, i think she knew the rules she was breaking and she knew what the punishement should be. so why should she not get it. if she felt strongly enough about the cause to put her registration on the line then good for her, but that is what she chose isnt it?

The issue for many of us, Lesley is severity of the sanction. Tha NMC has several options. To strike Margie from the register seemed too hard - at least it did to me.

Cheers,

Stuart

I'm so glad. She put it on the line but with just cause in my opinion... would anything of been done otherwise? mind you I don' t know how many colleagues will trust her.. or atleast misbehave around her lol either that or shes going to be victimised  a bit :(  I hope not.

Given the groundswell of support among rank and file nurses I suspect she'll be OK. Certainly hope so. I'm pretty sure she'll be able to find work.

Cheers,

Stuart

Well Lesley, I don't suppose anyone can answer that apart from Margie herself.

would it change anyone's opinions if it turned out that she'd made a nice little packet out of it? (not saying she did, just wondering?)

Given that she only made this decison after the internal procedures failed to work I don't think it would make any difference to me. She tried to change it all and this was the only way she could see to do it, so far as I can tell.

Now, given that she risked everything to do so I personally wouldn't hold it against her if she did get a fee for her services - after all she risked everything else.

It is possible to be cynical about these things, of course, but I think the events leading up to Margie eventually 'going public' via panorama demonstrate very well that her motivation was anything but a cynical desire to profit from the misfortunes of others. I think she genuinely wanted to make improvements but was at a loss to know how to go about it within the system she faced. That's my take on it anyway.

Cheers,

Stuart

I cried when I watched this on tv and I can relate to why she did it.. I've pulled my phone cam out before then thought better of it! Things have changed because of what she did so whether she got payment or not it does not change my opinion on her actions.. she would of needed that money to get by anyway. Well thats how I see it.

i would not have been happy if she had filmed my mum or dad in that state, i would rather she told me (and other family members) what was going on, surely they could do something?

I think she was very brave to have filmed that! Well done her, standing up for what is right and not sitting back and letting it happen.

Three cheers for Margie! Hip Hip!

Margy Haywood now does training, she was my trainer for a home care company and other companies training from health and safety to first aid!

She was telling us all the stories, and for your information, she did recieve payments for her Undercover work, but she donated it all to charity about care for the elderly! which she also works at improving!

I just thought you wouls all like to know that =]
