Hello,

I am new to this forum and will be commencing a diploma in Mental Health Nursing soon. Any advice and help will be much appreciated.

I value your wisdom and want to feed off it. Lol.

Hi princesa,

It's hard to give advice without a specific question. Please feel free to ask if you have something specific.

More than that let me just say that you'll find mental health nursing to be a brilliant career. Let us know how you get on and if you have any concerns, issues or questions you need to raise please do so.

Cheers,

Stuart

when on your placements be on the floor, there's nothing worse than a student who hides behind there books or reading notes you'll learn far more from patients than you will from books

I would reccommend that you question/discuss with service users your mentor and other allied health professionals involved in patient care/service user care.To help you gather  improved knowledge and differing perspectives.

I am thinking about going back to uni.  However,I am not worried about doing any placements and really enjoy 'hands on' work.  Its just the essay work that scares me.  Although 2nd time round at uni (i was an OT student up til last july) i think and know mental health will be more easily readable and understandble (dylexic tendencies here) meaning can see it all in my mind rather than something that is too text booky -if  you see what i mean).

Biology is another area which scares me although i did pass my credits in access course...

If you ever make mistakes you will def learn by them and never forget them...

Try not to worry - best thing about being a student is - you will make mistakes or you can ask the stupidiest of questions because you won't know etc
