People sometimes drop it a notch when I say I am a nurse ! For example they start to speak slowly and enunciate while saying " oh you must be so patient ? " ERRRR no actuallly I am not thick and deaf either so please don't speak down to me ! My son was watching a scrub nurse on Holby City and said "do you do that ?" so I said " yes" to which he replied " oh so you pass stuff then ? " . I wear scrubs and sometimes the patients don't know if I am a Dr or a nurse , interesting the different perspectives you get.You need broad shoulders in this job !

    ' While I'm here'..................there's something I want to discuss but I don't want to waste the doctor's time.........(so I'll waste yours instead).

our ward is run by a nursing consultant and nurse specialists... you can imagine how confused the old dears are " I've been here a week and I still haven't seen a proper doctor" I think its beyond comprehension for some but our ward runs well and the nurse con makes beds, does washes.. lol love to see a dr do that!!!

Re no 7, "Nurses take orders from doctors": that's one of the funniest things about Holby City. The doctors tell the nurse to take a break, go home early & help out on another ward etc. And they reprimand them for being late etc. He, he. Gi's a break, man.
